导演简介

古涛2007年毕业于加拿大Mel Hoppenheim 电影学院电影制作系。

他的实验电影短片《去大海的路上》2011年入围美国圣丹斯影展、荷兰鹿特丹国际电影节、日本山形纪录片影展、美国迈阿密Perez Art美术馆（2014）等全球四十多个影展并获得多个奖项，例如法国克雷蒙费昂国际短片影展实验电影单元评审团大奖，并被多伦多国际电影节评为2010年度加拿大十佳短片。

《驯马》是古涛的首部纪录长片。

Director's Biography

Tao Gu started filmmaking from experimental films. His short experimental documentaryOn the Way to the Sea (2010) was shown in over 40 film festivals and won numerous prizes. He works on the documentary as an editor and director.Taming the Horse (2017) is his first feature documentary, selected by Vision Du Réel, Dok Leipzig, RIDM and Festival Des 3 Continents.

导演阐述

在这部制作时间历时六年的纪录片里，我尝试去展现在这个碎片化时代击碎每一个人的记忆和心底家园的境况下当代中国青年的状态，以及他们颇具人性温度的人生姿态和尊严。同时，我也尝试在中国纪录片多样的生态里探索我对纪录片美学的追求。

Director’s Statement

Over the course of a year, I accompanied Dong with a camera in his struggles with family and society, sex and love, identity and survival as a young man in modern China. The resulting portrait is of a difficult and divisive young man; a sympathetic record on the human condition in contemporary China; a raw cry for truth, a longing for true love and freedom.

剧情简介

一个失去故乡的边缘人，一个生活中被贬抑的失败者，一个对理想有偏执幻想的做梦者。渴望精神上“不惑”的生活，却深陷现实和人性的泥淖无法自拔。

该片是一个当代中国青年的特殊切片，记录了人物冬冬在他生命的特殊转折期所面临的家庭伦理、金钱、生存、性与爱情的困境。

Synopsis

Dong, a dreamer who has lost his way when his age turned to 30, is forced to confront the realities of age, family and a changing economic landscape in China. A rich and nuanced portrait of a wild spirit tamed in time by life’s many forces.

“这是一部关于迷失的纪录片，主人公东东在自我认同和现实生活中不断纠缠。影片没有一味地去描述东东的反叛和无助，当最后东东选择不再回到他想象当中的圣地，是他自己选择在‘迷雾’（困境）中滞留。导演古涛以实验影像见长，这是他的第一部纪录长片，其中声音效果尤为精妙。”

This is a documentary about lost. The protagonist Dong Dong gets entangled in self-recognition and reality. The film didn’t just depict his rebellion and helplessness.When Dong Dong finally decides to never go back to his imagined holy land, that means that he choose to stay in the mist. Gu Tao is specialized at experimental images. This is his first feature documentary and it presentdelicate sounddesign.
