Director's Biography

Jerry Carlsson graduated from Valand Academy in 2015. His award-winning shorts have been screened in numerous international film festivals, including Locarno and Tribeca. In 2015 Jerry was selected for the European Film Promotions programme "FUTURE FRAMES: Ten filmmakers to follow" at Karlovy Vary.

《影子怪兽》 是一次对于人类行为和舞蹈电影的艺术探索。

我们人类是一种社会群居动物，为了生存和让群体里的其他人接受，我们倾向于去适应已知的周遭环境。《影子怪兽》这部短片介绍了一个孩子如何去感知一个她还不能理解的成人社会。在现实和和超现实之间，这部荒诞的现实主义电影融合了表演和舞蹈，通过一个孩子的视角，这部电影变成了一种荒诞的，影射我们自己行为的方式。

通过《影子怪兽》这部电影，我想找到一种融合舞蹈和表演的方式，为电影这个媒介寻找一种基于动作的语言。

Director’s Statement

Skuggdjur is an exploration of human behavior and of dance film as an art form.

We humans are social herd animals that adapt to the surroundings we know of, in order to be accepted by others and stay alive.Skuggdjur is a short film of how a child perceives an adult world she hasn’t fully decoded and understood yet. This absurd realism, on the boundary between normal and surreal, merges acting and dancing. It’s a way to mirror our own behavior, in all its absurdity, through the eyes of a child.

Film and dance have a lot in common, they are both visual art forms built on rhythm. WithSkuggdjur I wanted to find a way to merge dancing with acting, in order to find a movement-based language made for film.

剧情简介

马罗尔跟随她的父母去到了一个派对，她的父母想让她好好表现。在这个夜晚，她发现这次派对上的大人们行为古怪。在这个派对里的每个人都在想方设法地融入集体，但是没有人成功。马洛尔同时也像是屋子里唯一一个看到有影子在环绕的人。

Synopsis

Marall follows her parents to a party and they want her to behave. As the evening progresses she finds the adults’ behavior increasingly strange. Everyone at the party is trying to fit in, but not everyone succeeds. Marall also seems to be the only one seeing the shadow circulating inside the house.
